Since the beginning of the summer season in Mariupol, the overhaul of the pedestrian zone along Budivelnykiv Avenue has started. Now, active work is going on in the section from Bahchivanji Street to Lavitsky Street. The contractor laid the tile with an area of 9 thousand square meters. Mayor Vadym Boichenko checked the progress of work.
More than UAH 32 million was allocated from the city budget for the reconstruction of the sidewalk at this facility. This year the work on the section from Bahchivanji Street to Chernomorska Street will be completed and next year the reconstruction of the pedestrian zone from Myru Avenue to Bahchivanji Street will be started. The work will begin after a major replacement of the main water conduit. Besides, in mid-July, PU 'Mariupolatodor' plans to begin overhaul of the road along Budivelnykiv Avenue.
According to Vadym Boichenko, only an integrated approach to the arrangement of urban spaces allows to have quality repairs.
It is worth noting that since the creation of PU ‘Mariupolavtodor’, about UAH 325 million has been invested in the enterprise. During this time, a current repair of about 75 km of roads was completed. The company also began overhauls. 10 km of roads have already been repaired. Since 2020, urban traffic lights have also been transferred to the balance of PU ‘Mariupolavtodor’. About 126 traffic lights were replaced.
‘We increase the volume of asphalt mix produced by 25% annually. 126 new energy-efficient European traffic lights appeared in the city, allowing to optimize the energy consumption by three times. We began to replace and repair road signs. We bought the necessary equipment and we produce them ourselves. Due to investments from the city budget, about 70 units of new equipment are now on the balance sheet of the enterprise. This allows us to carry out work quickly and efficiently,’ Dmytro Chuchmay, director of PU ‘Mariupolavtodor’ said.
In 2019, over 8 km of sidewalks worth about UAH 30 million were repaired in the city. This is a reconstruction of pedestrian zones along Pashkovsky Str.,Lavitsky Str. and Peremogy Avenue.
