The Mayor has turned to the Government with an initiative to establish a single fair tariff for housing and public services and create compensatory mechanisms. Corresponding letters were sent to the Prime Minister and relevant ministries. This was stated by Mayor Vadym Boichenko at the meeting with journalists.

“The main thing in this matter is to protect the interests of people. At the initiative of the President, gas tariffs for the population will be reduced, the Government of Ukraine presented possible solutions. The first one is a state regulation of prices and reduction of gas prices. The second option is to strengthen the work on registration of subsidies in order to reduce the financial burden on family budgets. We support the country's leadership in an effort to prevent an increase in prices for tariffs for the population. For our part, we have prepared letters to the relevant ministries and to the Prime Minister, in which we propose in the near future to prescribe clear steps how a single and fair tariff will be established for all consumers, ” Vadym Boichenko said.

The Mayor added that today there will be a parliamentary day, on which the profile deputies and heads of enterprises will inform the deputies of the city council about the structure of tariffs.

“Many deputies have entered the City Council for the first time. It is important that they understand the city's governance processes and the work of the city council. And they were able to correctly convey this information to Mariupol residents. To do this, we are holding a Deputy Day, where they can get complete information, ” the Mayor said.

The Mayor noted that energy resources, that are gas and its transportation in the structure of the tariff, occupy the lion's share - 90%. Therefore, the rise in the price of gas directly affects the cost of the tariff. Besides, according to the Mayor, it is necessary to strengthen the subsidy program, namely, to expand the number of people who can apply for a subsidy.

“The subsidy is not a panacea, but it is a real tool for reducing the financial burden on the family budget. The key for us is to protect the interests of people. That is why it is important to establish a single and fair tariff for everyone, ” the Mayor summed up.
