Minister of Education and Science Sergei Shkarlet has come to the city on a two-day visit. The goal is to get acquainted with the development of education and visit key infrastructure facilities. First, he met with Mayor Vadym Boichenko.

‘A modern educational cluster is being created in our city. The main vector of the Development Strategy until 2030 is the creation of new opportunities for youth. Our task is to create conditions for school graduates to stay in Mariupol,’ Vadym Boichenko said.

The Mayor said that for this, a ‘Social Lift’ is being formed, which connects the high school with the university and the workplace. This will enable students to build a future vision of their hometown career. As part of this, support and methodological centers are being created. Now there are three of them: on the basis of schools No. 26, 66 and 47. There are plans to make four more.

Vadym Boichenko also noted the importance of the development of the Medical University in Mariupol. More than UAH 60 million have been invested in its development. There is a need for 3 thousand medical workers.

Deputy Mayor Olexander Kochurin briefed the Minister on the Four Activities initiative at schools in the details, told about the creation of a service department and a parent fund.

We also discussed the problematic issues. The need to provide for state payment of additional payments to teachers who work with children at home and in extended day groups is among them. In addition, the need to make it possible to organize children's meals by specialized non-profit utilities was also discussed.

Serhii Shkarlet highly appreciated the achievements of the city in the development of education and promised to consider the problematic issues in details.

‘Education is about the development and competitive advantages of our children, which will restore Ukraine. I believe that it is necessary to make an educational case for Mariupol. After all, this is an example of how it is necessary to structure the school infrastructure. It is important how the senior specialized school is focused on the further employment of children,’ the Minister of Education and Science said.
