Mayor Vadym Boichenko visited Mariupol State University with the Minister of Education Serhii Shkarlet and the Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko. They met with students who came to our city from the occupied territories. They discussed the issues of admission, the educational process and the possibility of further employment in our city.
‘Youth is the key capital of Ukraine and the future of our cities. Mariupol is ready to fight for every student. For this purpose modern conditions of training are created. Various programs to support new ideas and projects are being implemented. The city is developing, becoming interesting, comfortable, accessible and competitive among young professionals so that they want to connect their career and future life with it’, the Mayor noted.
Over the past five years, 411 children from Donetsk, Dokuchaevsk and other occupied cities have joined Mariupol State University. Another 55 applied for the next school year.
Mariupol offers young people a platform for development. There is a municipal school, there are two IT hubs, new projects are supported in the business incubator - the Business Support Center. In addition, there is a municipal program "Affordable Housing". Young people under 35 can rent a flat under simplified conditions and the right of further redemption.
The plans for the near future are to open an airport, a medical clinic with a university campus, and to develop a railway connection with the city.
‘Ukraine is open to those who want to study in the free territory and will provide such students with real support,’ Serhii Shkarlet said.
This year, the state has allocated 100 million UAH to prepare entrants for entry from the occupied territory and the demarcation line.
