The Mayor of Mariupol and the Italian Ambassador discuss the prospects for the development of infrastructure in Mariupol

Mayor Vadim Boichenko has met with the Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, David La Cecilia. They discussed the opportunities for future collaboration, exchange of experience and strengthening of partnership.

The key issues of the meeting are prospects for the development of infrastructure and transport and handling household waste. Vadim Boichenko told about positive changes in the city and about implemented projects in the framework of cooperation with European partners. The parties also discussed the possibility of sharing experience in the field of municipal government.

‘Mariupol is safe and open today. The city hosts international festivals. Conditions are created for the active development of infrastructure and investment. But there are a number of problems that are needed to be solved. We are faced with the task of developing the coastal zone and transport links with the city, as the basis for the development of a tourist destination. We want to see Mariupol European and developed. The city of the future by the sea’,
the Mayor noted.

The ambassador spoke about Italy’s strong relations with Ukraine and projects that are implemented in the country. He also focused on the priorities for Italy in the field of international cooperation. Davide La Cecilia noted the importance of infrastructure development in the east of Ukraine.

‘Italy is one of the world champions in the infrastructure development. For you, in the context of economic development, it is important to develop a logistic message and we are ready to provide expert support in this direction. It is very important to improve transport, rail and air links. I would note that if the airport worked, then we would visit your city much more often’,
Davide la Cecilia stressed.

At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador of Italy invited the representatives of Mariupol municipality to a business forum in Rome.
