Mariupol GogolFest festival is in TOP-5 festivals in Europe

The GogolFest is a festival of Contemporary Art, which took place in Mariupol and became one of the winners of the prestigious European Award EFFEAwards 2019-2020. The international jury selected the five most influential European festivals from 705 participants. Such cities as Warsaw, Deltebre, Ford and Leeuwarden received awards for festivals. The award ceremony was held in Brussels.

During the ceremony, the jury noted that GogolFest is an amazing platform for creative development. It is a full-fledged art movement, form various festival platforms and directions throughout Ukraine. The strategic and artistic choice is extremely strong. It is modern, innovative and energetic.

In turn, the president of GogolFest contemporary art festival, Vlad Troitsky, said: ‘Art opens the way for us into the future, which will be beautiful, I hope’.

Ukraine was represented by the initiators of the annual StartUP GogolFest festival in Mariupol - deputy mayor Alexander Kochurin and AIRGogolFest Vinnitsa - mayor Sergey Morgunov, curator of the GogolFest theater program Andrey Palatny and executive director of the UCF Julia Fediv.

European Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Tibor Navračić emphasized: ‘By supporting intercultural dialogue, the jury is entrusted with the idea, networking and competence of partners. Implementing this diverse range of policies and projects would not have been possible without the European Parliament, authorities and cultural institutions in member states, as well as organizations such as the European Festivals Association (EFA). We need to continue working together'.
