The emergency and diving group has begun cleaning the ‘water mirror’ of the Kalchik river from the solid waste. Now the main works are carried out on the section from the bridge of Karpinskogo Str. to the bridge along Makara Mazaya Str.
The head of the rescue emergency and diving service, Alexander Tatay, said that the shallowing of the river is now observed. The largest amount of household waste was concentrated in this area.
‘Unfortunately, unscrupulous residents throw solid household waste - plastic bottles, plastic items, packages - into drainage storm tubing, thus, because of the rain, everything flows to the Kalchik river. In addition, some residents drive up cars and either leave the garbage near the river or dump it into it,’ he said.
The works are conducted from March 22. During this time, the emergency-diving group extracted almost 4 cubic meters of municipal solid waste. The collected garbage will be taken to the landfill. The works will last until May, 20.
