Mariupol Freedom Square gets the international award

The project of lighting of Freedom Square has got an award at the international contest of lighting design Lighting Design Awards that is held in Los-Angeles. The award was presented to Mayor Vadym Boichenko by the author Mykola Kabluka.

“The Freedom Square is not just comfortable space for having rest. This is a place filled with senses and symbols of unity and peace. This is a “smart-book” that tells the history of Mariupol. We asked for help the best specialists in the field of architecture and design. I appreciate everybody who took part in the creation of the square. Such a synergy and unity have given the result that international authoritative jury recognized,” Vadym Boichenko admitted.

The city mayor discussed the further plans of cooperation with Mykola Kabluka. In particular, the realization of the project of lighting of the part from the center to the City garden.

“It is nice that Mariupol is open to innovations and transformations. Our cooperation let realize one of the brightest projects. Lighting Design Awards is the most authoritative award in the field of lighting design. Mariupol square will have been able to fight off a competitors from 43 countries. There were over 350 initiatives. It is important they will not stop at the achieved and the cooperation will continue,” Mykola Kabluka admitted.
