Today, on the Day of Liberation of prisoners of concentration camps and Ghettos in Mariupol has been held a mourning day. The residents came to the monument to the victims of fascism, having honored their memory with a minute of silence and laying flowers at the monument.
From 1941 to 1945, 60 000 Mariupol citizens were forcibly taken to Germany. The deputies of the mayor, Mikhail Kogut and Mikhail Ivchenko, came to recall the events of the tragedy and to honor the memory of those who did not come along with everyone.
‘Any war is human suffering and pain. We must remember those who have become hostages of those terrible events. And to remind the young generation about this so that such a tragedy will never happen again,’ Mikhail Kogut said.
At the end of the rally, everybody who was present, laid flowers at the memorial under the musical accompaniment of the orchestra of the National Police of Ukraine.
