Mariupol embroided the Rushnyk of National Unity with the whole Ukraine

On the Unity Day of Ukraine in Kiev the Towel of National Unity has been presented that is the guardian of Ukrainians all over the world. The residents from all the regions of our country took part in its embroidery. Mariupol also contributed to its creation.

24 Mariupol women embroidered the Rushnik in the exhibition hall named after Arkhip Kuindzhi on July 19, 2007. After a while, he was brought back to our city in 2015, in order to add a few more stitches to the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko.

After Rushnik traveled a lot in Ukraine. The long-awaited presentation took place on January 21 in the National Kiev-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve.The representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, cultural and religious figures, the heads of cultural foundations and international humanitarian organizations were invited to it. Mariupol was presented by the director of the department of cultural and social development of the City Council Diana Trima.

The size of the Towel of National Unity is nine meters. Its ornaments correspond to the historical periods that our country has experienced. The goal is to unite the Ukrainian society around the ancestral traditions, to show the unity of the people and the indivisibility of Ukraine.
