29 new lamps using LED technologies will be installed along Levanevskoho Str. from Myru Ave. to Mytropolytska Str. This will allow Mariupol residents to get lighter and safer streets in the Central District and to get savings to the city. One of the initiatives ‘Mariupol – the City of the Future” is being implemented with the support of the USAID project “Democratic Governance in Eastern Ukraine.’
Now the use of incandescent lamps leads to the consumption of a large amount of electricity and additional costs of funds to pay for the consumed electricity.
‘Installing modern LED lighting will reduce consumption. The savings will amount to more than UAH 30 000 per year. In addition, the new lamps will improve road safety,’ Serhiy Zubenko, chief specialist of the investment and project management department says.
According to Oleksandr Maslov, a resident of the house on Mira Avenue, the old lamps need to be replaced for a long time: ‘The city center should be bright and modern. I often walk here with children in the evening and, of course, I want it to be light and safe. I am glad that such projects are being implemented in our city.’

The Smart Lighting project was selected by residents through an open electronic vote. Thus, residents of Mariupol choose their future.
