The resident of Mariupol presents a new method for diagnosing cancer and becomes the winner of a scientific competition

Olga Kharasakhal, a graduate of the Mariupol Technical Lyceum, as part of the Ukrainian team of young scientists, has won a prize in the international scientific competition in America. Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is an American competition of geniuses for schoolchildren and students. This year it was held in the city of Phoenix, Arizona.

Mariupol resident Olga Kharasakhal, as part of the Ukrainian team, presented a project devoted to a new method for early diagnosis of melanoma metastases – ‘Vacuum filtration with DOPA typing as a new method for diagnosing circulating tumor cells of all types of melanoma’.

She proposed an innovative method of identifying at an early stage of the disease an aggressive type of cancer - melanoma, according to a blood test.

The national team was represented by eight young scientists and only two won prizes - Nazar Ponochevny from Kiev and Olga Kharasakhal from Mariupol.
