Today, October 14, events are held in Mariupol dedicated to the Day of the Defender of Ukraine. In the morning, a festive service was held in all churches of all denominations. A solemn meeting was held on Freedom Square, near the memorial sign to the Soldiers-Liberators. The event was attended by the Mayor Vadym Boichenko, military personnel, representatives of the police, municipality and residents of the city.

“Today we honor those who defend our state and our city. These guys and girls carry in their hearts love for their family, city and our native Ukraine. Today we are building together a modern, European city that inspires with its development. But this would have been impossible without peace, security and tranquility. We are grateful to the servicemen for giving this to us”, Vadym Boychenko noted.

After that, the Mayor presented the military personnel with certificates of honor of the city council and gratitude of the Mayor for the conscientious fulfillment of military obligations.

The ringing of peace sounded in memory of the fallen soldiers. At the end of the meeting, the participants laid flowers at the memorial sign.

Besides, as part of the events dedicated to the Day of the Defender of Ukraine, a flagpole was installed on the territory of the Starokrymsky cemetery. It will be a symbol of servicemen who gave their lives to defend Ukraine. In honor of the holiday, the head of the department for defense mobilization work and provision of security measures of the city council Volodymyr Mogilny and military commissar of Mariupol United Military Commissariat Volodymyr Levandovsky solemnly raised the state flag.
