Representatives of the American Council on Foreign Relations arrived in Mariupol today. They got acquainted with the situation in the city, visited the port and met with border guards. First Deputy Mayor Mykhaylo Kohut told the guests about the success of Mariupol.

‘We have been able to take a big step towards development. It is based on a clear Strategy, which has identified areas that require qualitative change. In particular, we have transformed utilities and municipal services. Today we continue this path - we are developing a new Development Strategy until 2030. It is aimed at creating new opportunities, especially for young people’, Mykhaylo Kohut said.

The first deputy mayor added that the city has updated transport and is implementing a large-scale program to support condominiums, small and medium-sized businesses. Representatives of the United States were interested in security and integration of the ‘new Mariupol residents’. According to the former US Permanent Representative to the OSCE James Gilmore III, Mariupol made a positive impression on him.

‘It is important for us to show our solidarity with Ukraine. We wanted to see how people live near the conflict zone. Mariupol is a very beautiful city that is developing dynamically. We are happy for the leadership of the Mayor and his team’, he said.

According to Mykhaylo Kohut, such visits are a clear example of support from foreign partners.
