The development of a network of regional aviation hubs has started in Ukraine. Mariupol got into 10 cities where airports should be reconstructed or built. Deputy Head of the President's Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko spoke about infrastructure plans at “Ukraine 30” All-Ukrainian Forum.

‘It is important for us to connect the country not only by roads. We also connect the country by air. First, this year we are starting the reconstruction of runways at many regional airports. It is very important for people to be able to get to Kiev, to fly from Kiev on international flights. We have agreed with the airlines that all flights are connected. Third, we are launching international flights from regional airports with some airlines,’ the Deputy Head of the President's Office said.

Mayor Vadym Boichenko emphasizes that the airport is vital for Mariupol. It will allow to fully solve logistic problems and reveal the economic opportunities of the city.

‘Today there are several projects to build an airport in our city. In particular, several locations are being considered. The main thing for us is to start the process. After all, the absence of an airport not only creates difficulties for residents of relatively quick and comfortable movement around the country, but also hinders economic development. Air traffic will open up new opportunities for the city and will attract more international investment. We are grateful that the Office of the President of Ukraine and the government understand this and go to meet us,’ the Mayor said.

“Ukraine 30” All-Ukrainian Forum was created on the initiative of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It is a discussion platform where representatives of government at all levels, the expert community, civil society and the international community raise a number of issues that require balanced solutions.
