They are sure that the exploit of the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident deserves respect and eternal memory.

April 26 has become a black day in the calendar. At that time our compatriots did everything to stop the spread of this invisible plague. They were doctors, firemen, builders, engineers - all those who were called to perform their official duty to save whole generations. Life and health is the price they paid for this tragedy. The heroes are liquidators who did not survive but saved the lives of millions of citizens. Thank you for your heroic deal!
Vadim Boichenko said.

The mayor presented the gratitude of the mayor to the liquidators and their widows. Chairman of the All-Ukrainian public organization of the disabled ‘Union of Chernobyl in Ukraine’ Sergei Nekhaevskiy passed the insignia to his brothers and their families.

‘32 years the fire that was lit from the moment of liquidation of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident has been smoldering in the hearts of Chernobyl victims. Today at first we remember our twin brothers who are not with us. We did our duty in Chernobyl - not for money or benefits but because we understood that it was needed to be done. For us, the main thing is to leave a memory of our comrades and their deeds,’ he stressed.

Sergei Nekhaevskiy thanked the city authorities for their sensitivity to the problems of Chernobyl victims. For example, they supported their initiative to install memorial plates with the names of the deceased Chernobyl victims.

Mariupol citizens laid flowers at the foot of the monument at the end of the meeting.
