Today Mariupol has been admitted by ‘Transparent cities of Ukraine’ tablet that is a commemorative award of Transparency International organization. Such kind of awards is given to the cities that have surpassed the mark of 80 points from 100 possible. Mariupol took the first place in a transparency rate and it got 81.1 points.
‘Mariupol took the 57th place in a rate of transparent cities of Ukraine in 2017. The city is having deal with improvement of its conditions. It has taken the first place. Only two cities took 80 points in a rating, they are Mariupol and Drogobych. We are glad to cooperate with the city’, Anatoliy Kotov, an assistant of ‘Transparent cities’ project of Transparency International.
‘Transparent cities’ program deals with the issues of transparency and fighting with corruption at a local level. The rate of transparency of 100 biggest cities of Ukraine has been created. The specialists have analyzed the websites of city councils in 13 fields starting from purchases and finishing with education.
‘Transparency International’ is an international organization and its results are taken as a base by investors and partners of world class. A high standard of Mariupol shows that it is an open and a transparent city. We can be trusted and we are good at cooperation. It is a high rate for us and it is important to save it’, Stepan Makhsma, a secretary of the City Council told.
He admitted that Mariupol is ready to continue implementing the projects and programs to be more open and transparent city. The Deputy Mayor Mikhail Ivchenko appreciated an international organization for cooperation. According to him, Mariupol will not take the wrong turning and it will continue improving its rate. For instance, the city has already reached great achievements in ProZorro system. Mariupol has saved at about UAH 400 mln since it started its work.
‘Mariupol has done a good job. The main thing was to change people’s conscience. Everything that has been done in the city is directed to improve the quality of people’s lives. The information about conditions and processes that are created in Mariupol should be available and transparent. The citizens should be familiar with it. Now we have ‘B’ rating in a top list. Our goal is to reach maximum ‘A’ rating’, Mikhail Ivchenko emphasized.
