Mariupol has topped the rating of accessibility of Ukrainian cities. The research was carried out by the public organization "Dostupno.UA". During the year, the team visited 19 cities of Ukraine and monitored them for availability.

“Mariupol is building a barrier-free environment. A big amount of work is done. Accessibility is becoming the new norm in society. Our goal is to create equal opportunities for every person, to make the infrastructure of the city as friendly and welcoming for everyone as possible. This is our main task ", Mayor Vadym Boichenko emphasized.

Mariupol received high scores for the accessibility of public transport, tactile tiles at crossings and the conditions of pharmacies. The experts also noted the "Accessible Mariupol" application developed by local IT specialists. Through the application, you can get administrative and social services, enroll a child in a queue for a kindergarten or school, search for the nearest transport stops, pharmacies, and catering establishments.

It is worth noting that within the framework of the initiative of the first lady Olena Zelenska "Without Barriers", Mayor of Mariupol, Vadym Boichenko, was among the first to sign a Memorandum on the development of barrier-free architecture in Ukraine. It aims to create equal opportunities and develop a universal public space that is friendly to people with limited mobility. Each reconstruction and overhaul is carried out taking into account all the elements of accessibility. Transport with a low floor and a folding ramp drives around the city, new social services are being introduced, conditions are being created for obtaining barrier-free education and playing sports. Soon a modern and affordable pool in Ukraine will be opened in Mariupol.
