Such a decision has been taken on the second plenary meeting of the first session of VIII convocation of Mariupol city council. City mayor Vadym Boichenko suggested her candidature as a high level manager, who will be able to continue strategic development of the community and realize state programs in Mariupol. She has experience and high achievements in this field.
“Ksenia Sukhova has been working in my team at a difficult time for five years, when it was necessary to take right decisions in the time of crisis. For this time Ksenia Sukhova showed her character, leadership qualities in the field of taking effective decisions. She took different directions – healthcare and social insurance. She is a person with great motivation who is not afraid to take the tasks and reach the results”, Vadym Boichenko admitted.
While governing, Ksenia Sukhova raised the level of the medicine of Mariupol. She restarted the direction that protects the lives and health of people. The first modern cardio-vascular center is opened in Mariupol during her governance. Due to it, the mortality from cardio-vascular illness was reduced twice. Neurology department started to work with the blood stroke. The first regional diagnostic center for children appeared in Mariupol. Today children’s traumatology and surgery is developed, a new infectious department is built and modern emergency departments are opened.
Under the governance of Ksenia Sukhova, the social field began to be developed, which is created to take care of our residents - IDPs, children and people with disabilities as well as lonely pensioners. Today, two rehabilitation centers for children with disabilities are under reconstruction. Two territorial centers have been overhauled, which have become a support for the older generation. She takes care of orphans and new residents of Mariupol. For four years, 550 flats were issued. The foundation was laid for the first steel house to be built with the support of the president. She managed to secure the allocation of UAH 50 million from the state budget for this project.
“In addition to high managerial competencies, Ksenia Sukhova's leadership position has a big heart filled with love for Mariupol and its residents. The trust of people and the professionalism of Ksenia Sukhova will become a solid foundation for the effective work of the deputy corps of the eighth convocation. Moreover, as the secretary of the city council, Ksenia Sukhova will have an expanded range of powers, which will make it even more effective to fight the coronavirus pandemic. It will provide direct communication between Mariupol and the government and specifically with the president. Mariupol will receive additional financial opportunities within the Big Construction program for the development of schools, kindergartens and medical facilities”, Vadym Boichenko stressed.
Voting for the candidacy for the post of the city clerk of Mariupol City Council was held by secret ballot. Before that, the composition of the counting commission was approved, which included deputies from various parliamentary factions. According to the calculations, the majority of the deputies supported Ksenia Sukhova.

I assure you that I will cope with this great challenge and will live up to the hopes that are entrusted to me. I will work within the law - without populism and politics, I will defend the interests of Mariupol residents. I will always work for the residents of Mariupol and for the development of our city. I urge the deputies to unite for a common goal - this is the development of Mariupol and the improvement of the lives of its residents”, Ksenia Sukhova said.
