Today, on St. Nicholas Day, the lights of two main Christmas trees of Mariupol — Theater Square and Veselka Park — have been lit. A special route "New Year Express" connected two districts. Mayor Vadym Boichenko joined the mass celebrations and congratulated the residents.

Thousands of Mariupol families came to the holiday. Theater Square and Veselka Park met them with unusual illumination, luminous art objects and alleys, fabulous photo zones and beloved New Year characters. The atmosphere of the holiday in Theater Square is complemented by an ice rink, a New Year's fair, a Venetian carousel and the residence of St. Nicholas.

The guests of the holiday were greeted by a rich concert and entertainment program. The Mayor, along with the children, pressed the “magic button”, which lit the New Year's lights of two districts.

‘The opening of the Christmas tree is a great start to New Year holidays. Each time we strive to celebrate  New Year even brighter, even cooler! Therefore, we celebrate it in a big way. The main thing is that our children feel love and warmth. So that for them this holiday is always associated with a miracle. These Christmas trees, carousels, bright lights are for them. We also create the mood of the holiday,’ Vadym Boichenko said.

He added that 2019 was bright for Mariupol, but more projects are planned to be implemented in 2020. After a walk through the holiday locations, the Mayor got into the ‘New Year Express’ - a special holiday bus route that runs from one holiday location to another. He visited Veselka Park and talked with residents of the Left Bank district.
