Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv Piotr Stahanczyk has paid a working visit to Mariupol. He discussed further cooperation and development of our city at a meeting with Mayor Vadym Boichenko.
‘Mariupol is grateful to the Republic of Poland for its support. The city of Gdańsk has been our twin city. Due to such cooperation, the city adopts the experience of European countries and becomes even more modern and comfortable. Inspired by the Solidarity Museum in Gdańsk, we created the Port of Cultures project, which was presented to the European Investment Bank and received a positive response’, Vadym Boichenko noted.
Over the past few years, many positive changes have taken place in Mariupol. An effective Development Strategy was developed, due to which new public transport appeared, capital repairs of hospitals, schools and residential buildings were carried out. Parks, squares and recreation areas have been renovated. Administrative services have reached a new level of accessibility and utilities have become better. New areas are developing, tourism and IT are among them.
Today Mariupol is one of 10 largest Ukrainian cities. It is one of the safest and most transparent cities in Ukraine. Since 2014, 100,000 new Mariupol residents have arrived in Mariupol. Social support centers have been set up to adapt them. About 70% of young people choose to live in their hometown and continue their studies at local universities. Students come from different parts of Ukraine and other countries. Investors consider our city as a reliable partner and support the municipality's projects. All these changes prove that Mariupol is a peaceful and promising city.
‘Many people talk about the rapid development of Mariupol. I wanted to see it on my own. Now I see that the city is very beautiful, modern and peaceful. You have a lot of happy youth and great potential. I will especially note public transport, in Mariupol it is one of the most comfortable in Ukraine. I am confident that in the future we will continue to cooperate effectively and implement more than one large-scale project,’ Piotr Stahanczyk said.
