A French delegation headed by the President of Beten Ingenierie Jean Roche has arrived in Mariupol on a working visit. They held a meeting with Mayor Vadym Boichenko, presented proposals for the modernization of city beaches and the integrated tourism development of Mariupol.
According to the concept, each city beach should be different. According to Jean-Baptiste Farion, representative of Beten Ingenierie, Central Beach can become a full-fledged city embankment, Peschanka beach - a zone near the Meotida nature reserve, and Levoberezhny district - a place for family recreation with unique flora and fauna.
“There is a natural lagoon on the Left Bank beach. We propose to equip a bird watching point. It is important to minimize artificial interference and fit the entire arrangement into a unique natural environment,” Jean-Baptiste Farion said.
For integrated tourism development, the French side proposed to establish links with reserves and natural areas that are located outside Mariupol. Besides, the initiative spelled out the possibility of arranging river banks. At the same time, on the one side of the coast, it is recommended to make a recreation area, and on the other - an untouched territory for the development of flora and fauna.
In addition, the presentation highlighted the importance of organizing observation decks overlooking the city. It is also suggested that they were linked by cycling and hiking trails. As an example, Jean-Baptiste Farion cited the French city of Nantes, where more than 20 panoramic sites were designed by artists from all over the world.
“The sea is our geographical advantage. Mariupol can become a tourist center. We create new opportunities for this. Reconstruction of the embankments is an important project that our residents are waiting for. Due to the systematic and comprehensive work with our French partners, we will be able to radically change our beaches and make them European, ” Vadym Boichenko said.
