Today, French experts presented a technical concept for the reconstruction of the central coast of Mariupol. Mayor Vadym Boichenko got acquainted with it.

“We want to reveal the tourism potential of our city. Reconstruction of the embankments is one of the key elements of this ambitious goal. I am sure that the renewal of the coastline will become a new point of development for the city and will turn Mariupol into one of the most important recreation centers in Ukraine, ” Vadym Boichenko stressed.

The Mayor added that expert developments will become a technical challenge for an engineering project, which is planned to be developed in 2022. The reconstruction work itself should begin in 2023.

However, according to the Mayor, the construction of an airport is an integral part of tourism development. Vadym Boichenko noted that this issue is already controlled directly by the President of Ukraine. Approval of a potential location for construction is pending.

Expert Alize Moro said that the reconstruction concept proposes to divide the embankment into four zones. Each of them will have their own characteristics and a tourist magnet. The first zone is in the area of the bridge over the railway track. A modern recreation area will be created here. The second is a pier, where you can equip a modern yacht club, a festival area and a skate park. The third is the territory of breakwaters. They are proposed to be converted into piers with places for anglers. The last zone is a terrace with restaurants.

At the same time, experts propose to update not only the beach area, but also the boulevard. In particular, plant greenery and unload it. For this, it is planned to organize two park zones at the northern and southern entrances in order to remove cars along the boulevard and expand the pedestrian zone, as well as srengthen public transport and cycling.

There are three routes to connect the beach, boulevard and parkland. One is a roundabout for walking, the second is through the observation decks at the top of the beach, the third is through the observation decks of Prymorsky Park. They all unite in the area of the central pier.

It is worth noting that the international architectural competition for the reconstruction of the Central Beach of Mariupol finished earlier. The winner was selected by a professional jury and open electronic voting by city residents. It was the project of the Ukrainian company SBM Studio. Technical conceptual developments by French experts, combined with the ideas of the winner of the architectural competition, will form the basis for the development of the final project for the reconstruction of Prymorsky Boulevard and Central Beach.
