French experts have visited Mariupol to discuss the project of possible solution of problems of high quality water supply. The visit of the key objects of the system of water resources managing is in the visiting program.
In relation to the possible provision of financing by the French Ministry of Finance, a French expert Olivier Faustini, the representatives of STEREAU and BETEN International and the Economic Service of the French Embassy in Ukraine visited Mariupol. Yesterday they met with the representatives of the city authorities to discuss technical details of the work of ‘Gorvodokanal’ public utility, as well as a draft of a new water supply concept for Mariupol. The project aims to solve the problems of using an alternative source of water supply, minimize water losses and improve its quality.
During the meeting, Olivier Faustini noted that if the financing of an expensive infrastructure project is agreed, then a solution of some problems should be foreseen. The issue of the prevention of water loss for technical or commercial reasons is among them.
The French expert noted that according to the results of this trip he would not object to the section of technical support of ‘Gorvodokanal’ being included in the total cost of the project in order to reduce water losses and increase the overall efficiency of the enterprise.
The First deputy mayor, Mikhail Kogut, said that it is very important to get an assessment and an expert opinion for Mariupol. It will help to determine the scope of the project, the problems of water supply and the vector of further work.
‘The issue of reducing water loss is constant. Your additional expertise and technical assistance is definitely needed and will help to solve this problem,’ the Deputy Mayor Sergei Orlov said.
French experts noted that the continued success of the project also depends on the effective work of all parties. It is important that the application for funding takes into account and spells out all the aspects.
