“Alliance 90/Greens” party headed by co-chairman Robert Gabek has visited the SE "Mariupol Commercial Sea Port".
During the meeting, the guests visited berth No. 18. We looked at the construction work of a grain terminal, the main dispatching port. And they discussed the problems of the port and the consequences of the naval blockade in the region of the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait.
‘Our city is developing rapidly and living an active life. We have experience to share with foreign delegations. But despite the rapid growth, we have problems that we are trying to solve in every possible way. During the meeting, they discussed ways of solving environmental problems. We talked about the development of infrastructure for the operation of the port in the future,’ Deputy Mayor Serhiy Zakharov said.
In turn, Igor Barskiy, acting director of Mariupol port, noted: ‘The work of the port has hardly changed, the same technologies, mechanisms and the same people have remained. The volume of cargo transshipment fell from 17 million tons per year to 5.5 million tons per year. Accordingly, the company's income has decreased, but we are trying to regulate the costs and therefore we have no budget and wage arrears. Our port is still profitable all these years’.
