The representatives of the UK Department for International Development visited Mariupol with a working visit. They held a meeting with the representatives of the city authorities, where they discussed issues of the development of the city and prospects for cooperation. The purpose of the delegation’s visit is to obtain information about the situation in Mariupol and the region.

Secretary of the Mariupol City Council Stepan Mahsma told the guests about the main priorities of the city government, the implementation of large-scale projects, the advantages of decentralization and the existing problems.

‘We actively began to implement projects to restore the destroyed housing. We have developed programs to support immigrants and people who are primarily in need of our support. Today Mariupol is actively and dynamically developing and changing. We are among the leaders in the Transparency International rating on transparency of Ukrainian cities. Our doors are always open for cooperation,’ Stepan Mahsma said.

In turn, the representatives of the Department of International Development of the United Kingdom appreciated for the reception and promised to visit our city again.

‘You are very open for cooperation and we appreciate it. We will come to you more often. Such visits give us the opportunity to understand the real situation that is happening in your region,’ humanitarian adviser at the British Embassy in Ukraine, Stephen Leist said.
