Today the draft of apartments among orphans has been held in Mariupol for the first time. 20 one-room apartments were bought in different districts of Mariupol. The living space was purchased under the state program for the amount of UAH 7.5 million.
As the head of the City Property Department Sergey Marchuk said, these square meters will be given to orphans aged from 18 to 23 years.
‘This is the first experience for Mariupol when the flats are purchased immediately in the ownership of orphans. The only restriction is that a person has no right to sell housing during 10 years’, Sergei Marchuk said.
Mariupol City Council has announced a competition before. The citizens submitted the proposals for the sale of flats. 20 apartments were selected which were approved at the regional level. Various factors were taken into account while selecting flats. Among them were the condition of housing, storeys, the availability of furniture and infrastructure.
As the Head of the Department for Work with the Assets of the City Council Svetlana Shtenda stressed, the draw among orphans is taking place for the first time. Thus, the human factor that affects the decision to issue an apartment is excluded.
Orphans or their guardians gladly accepted the format of the draw. Each of them pulled out a sealed envelope with the address of the apartment.
Certificates for apartments to orphans are solemnly handed over by Ukrainian Flag Day. It should be noted that a similar joint program of the city and the region is being prepared in Mariupol. It is planned to purchase flats for orphans for amount of 16 million UAH.
