In Mariupol, the overhaul of the infectious disease department No. 2 has been completed. This is part of the Children's Regional Infectious Disease Center, which is being created on the basis of the city hospital No. 4. It will be able to serve 100 thousand children in the south of Donetsk region. The total cost of creating the center is over UAH 28.2 million. It is funded by the city and state budgets, as well as by the Metinvest Group.
“Our goal is to protect our children with the most modern treatment methods and equipment. Partner support helped to start the project immediately. In turn, the People's Deputy of Ukraine Vadym Novinsky did everything possible for the city to receive a state subsidy. The synergy of the city, the state apparatus and the Metinvest Group made it possible to significantly accelerate the implementation of the project”, Vadym Boichenko said.
The center will become a unique medical institution for the city and region. Children from Mariupol and adjacent villages with bacterial, virological and other infections will be admitted here. It will be especially important to have a fully equipped intensive care unit.
People's Deputy of Ukraine Vadym Novinsky and Honored Doctor of Ukraine Boris Todurov visited the infectious diseases department. "Such a rapid development of medicine in Mariupol is possible due to the effective city management of the team of the Mayor Vadym Boichenko," Vadym Novinsky emphasized.
The old building has completely changed its face. New European-level wards, equipped with a ventilation and air conditioning system, a specialized board for children with disabilities, two boxes with separate entrances - comfortable conditions have been created for both children and doctors.
“We have always provided systemic assistance to City Hospital No. 4. Over the past 10 years, they have invested about UAH 17 million in the hospital. These are repairs, assistance in purchasing equipment, oxygen supply. Over the past four months, we have allocated more than UAH 7 million”, the general director of the Azovstal iron and steel works, Enver Tskitishvili said.
The regional center will consist of two reconstructed infectious diseases wards and a bacterial laboratory. According to the first deputy mayor Myhailo Kohut, the work is being carried out ahead of schedule. The entire complex of works is planned to be completed by the end of this year.
“It is important that a laboratory, a hospital and children's intensive care unit will be collected in one place. This will shorten the time of diagnosis and increase the effectiveness of treatment. The best examples of European medical centers were taken into account in the development of the project”, the director of the hospital Volodymyr Zhygil said.
