Public hearing concerning confirmation of ‘Challenging scheme of water supply in Mariupol’ project has been heard today. It foresees water supply from local resources of Kalmius and Kalchik rivers.
In view of this situation on Donbass, a water supply problem in Mariupol is significant. The city is searching for the possibility to go to water service. One of the decisions was suggested by ‘Donetsk Water Institute’. It made engineering and economical ground of challenging scheme of water supply in Mariupol.
The institution had a task to work out a scheme that should satisfy the requirements and to take into account accordance of investment and prime cost.
‘Developed suggestions take into account water balance, its quality and price policy. The city needs to find a solution of this situation, so we consider all necessary suggestions’, the First Deputy Mayor Mikhail Kogut admitted.
The head of ‘Donetsk Water Institute’ Ltd Dmitriy Shvydchenko presented a scheme to Mariupol citizens. He told about researches, pricing, implementation phase of this project and investment cost.
The institute gathered all the necessary data. A balance of surface and underground water of Donetsk region and its characteristics are among them. In his opinion, local resources are enough for water supply of all the population of the city. Desalination of Azov Sea and transportation of water for long distances are not necessary but cost-intensive.
Mariupol citizens could ask any questions concerning realization of such a project and to make their own suggestions.
