Vadim Boichenko with discipline supervisors are currently studying the sustainable development of water supply and sewerage systems in Izmir within the framework of the working visit to Turkey.

During the meeting with B. Fügen Selvitopu, the general director of the Izmir Water and Wastewater Administration (IZSU), the issues of improving sanitation through reasonable solutions for water and wastewater treatment were discussed.

Modern water management systems in Izmir are built thanks to cooperation with the IFC International Finance Corporation. Turkish city began to receive back the loans for the renewal of the system in 2004. The newest technologies make it possible to clean the drains in such a way that the water reaches the sea completely clean. A peat mixture, formed after cleaning is processed into energy. Now the cooperation is being continued and this year Izmir should receive about 10 million Euros for the reconstruction of water supply and sanitation networks.

Deputy Mayor Sergey Zakharov told about the situation in Mariupol. He acquainted the participants of the meeting with the technical indicators of the networks of our city and also noted the key problems - the deterioration of pipelines, significant water losses both technical and commercial.

Now Vadim Boichenko is discussing the possibilities of cooperation with IFC on raising funds of the corporation for the reconstruction of water supply and sanitation networks in Mariupol.

It will solve one of the most painful issues of the city - to provide the population with quality drinking water as well as improve the ecological situation of the city. The reconstruction and new technologies will allow to manage water resources effectively,
Vadim Boichenko emphasized.
