An annual review of the Danish Refugee Council has been held in Melekino. The organization summed up and outlined plans for next year. The event was attended by the secretary of the city council Stepan Mahsma and deputy mayor Ksenia Sukhova.
During the panel discussion, the issue of cooperation between the Danish Council, the state and the municipality was considered. Stepan Mahsma noted that partnership with the organization has become very important and fruitful for Mariupol: ‘In 2014, when our city was going through a difficult period, the Danish Council extended a helping hand. Due to this, it was possible to restore and repair the damaged houses’.
Ksenia Sukhova noted that the implementation of social projects has become an important element of cooperation: ‘We have implemented a number of important projects with the Danish Refugee Council. We have always found common opportunities for implementing projects that meet the needs of residents. Of particular importance was assistance in housing and the social integration of ‘new Mariupol residents’.
According to the director of Mariupol city center of social services for family, children and youth Lyubov Galchenko, within the framework of joint projects, new services were created for families in need of help.
During the meeting, the issues of mine clearance and interaction of public organizations with the city government were discussed.
