Nine members of the European Parliament have arrived in the city to analyze the current situation in eastern Ukraine. They visited a military unit and a trading port.

The head of the delegation, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister stressed that during the visit the members of the European Parliament were interested in the situation in the Sea of Azov. The key purpose of the visit is to demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine on the part of the EU because of the risk of Russian military aggression.

“The European Union is very clear in its position. We want to resolve the conflict through diplomatic negotiations. This is the only way. Nobody wants a military conflict,” the member of the European Parliament stressed.

The head of the subcommittee on security and defense, Natalie Loiseau, noted that support for Ukraine is provided through the provision of additional funding and equipment that will increase the country's resilience.

“We want to demonstrate European unity in the face of disinformation that comes from Russia by invasion. We are doing everything to reduce the escalation. Ukraine must have its own choice of the future and its allies,” Natalie Loizeau stressed.
