The divers pick up about three cubes of garbage from the sea bottom

The employees of the rescue emergency and diving service are preparing the waters of the Sea of ​​Azov for the summer season. Thus, since the beginning of April, about three cubes of garbage have already been picked up from the sea bottom. The head of the rescue emergency and diving service, Alexander Tatay, told about the work that has been done and the quantity of Mariupol residents who spent holidays near the coast.

About 25 000 of Mariupol residents visited city beaches during a five-day holiday weekend. The official opening of the season is May 15.. In order to create comfortable conditions for the residents and the guests of the city, work on the improvement of beaches and cleaning the sea started from April 1.

According to Alexander Tatay, three rescue boats, two diving groups, and about 12 personnel are regularly involved in cleaning the sea: ‘Divers conducted a study of the seabed and started to clean it up close. Basically, we get fragments of nets, glass jars and a large amount of plastic’.

Work on cleaning the sea from dangerous items will continue during the active beach season. It is worth noting, 95% of beach equipment has already been installed.
