Mariupol has entered twenty cities of Ukraine which received maximum funding for the primary health care system. It became possible due to the high rate of prisoners' declarations with family doctors, general practitioners and pediatricians. To date, more than 62% of Mariupol residents have chosen a physician.
‘The amount of funding amounted to more than UAH 51 mln. We have an additional opportunity to purchase the necessary equipment and medicines for emergency care. We have also increased the salary of medical workers. On average, funding at the Centers increased by 10-30%,’ Svetlana Makarova, director of the health department said.
According to her, parents of children under 5 and older people are most active on the issue of making declarations. The least - a group of people aged 18 to 40 years.
The director of the department urged Mariupol residents not to delay the choice of a doctor. According to the health care reform, in 2019, medical institutions will receive government funding on the principle of ‘money goes for the patient’. Accordingly, in order for a medical institution to develop and provide services of high quality, it is necessary as many registered patients as possible.
In addition, the Primary Health Care Centers are switching to electronic document circulation this year.
‘At the beginning of this year, an out-patient card number must be indicated in a paper recipe. From April 1, the paper version of the recipe is not expected. An electronic version is introduced. We will not physically be able to prescribe it to undeclared patients,’ Tatiana Dusha, a head physician of the Center for Primary Health Care № 2 said.
