Special attention is paid to the conditions of accessibility in all establishments being reconstructed in Mariupol. School No. 26 has also created everything necessary for the comfortable movement of children with disabilities.

Thus, two ramps were equipped - to the building of the elementary school and the middle school with the senior one. Tactile tiles have been laid. There is also a bathroom for children with disabilities. A unique equipment appeared at the school - a special lift for free movement up the stairs. Due to it, a person in a wheelchair can comfortably climb to the second and third floors of the educational institution.

Such European approaches contribute to the integration of children with disabilities into society. They can, like other students, move around the school and be fully involved in the educational process.

We will remind, Mariupol joined the initiative of the first lady Olena Zelenska “Without barriers”. The corresponding Memorandum on the development of barrier-free architecture was signed by Mayor Vadym Boichenko in March this year. The document is aimed at creating equal opportunities and developing a universal public space friendly to people with limited mobility.

‘Accessibility should become the new norm of society. Until now, not all people have the same development opportunities due to limited infrastructure. We must change this and make our city, like the rest of Ukraine, accessible and comfortable for everyone,’ the Mayor of Mariupol stressed.
