Social services will become even more accessible. The deputies supported the corresponding draft decision at the session of Mariupol City Council. They are expanding the list of residents who will be provided with social support.
‘Since the beginning of the year, almost 20 thousand social services have been provided to residents of Mariupol. This issue is socially significant for our residents. The project makes it possible to make a decision on the provision of social services to the Department of Social Protection for free,’ Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Population, Iryna Korobka said.
In accordance with the Law of Ukraine ‘On Social Services’, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on the organization of the provision of social services.
It provides social services for differentiated payments, taking into account the average monthly income for the following citizens:
- elderly people whose income exceeds UAH 3.5 thousand;
- persons with disabilities of the first and third groups, whose income exceeds UAH 3.5 thousand;
- families who are in difficult life circumstances, income exceeding 4 thousand UAH;
- candidates for foster carers and parent-educators, whose income exceeds 4 thousand UAH;
- to persons without a fixed abode, whose income exceeds 4 thousand UAH;
- persons who are in difficult life circumstances and are looking for a job, taking into account the monthly income and financial condition.
Mariupol supports people in difficult life circumstances. It creates targeted institutions and programs to improve living standards and accessibility of services. It takes care of the elderly and people with disabilities. More than 4,000 residents of Mariupol use social services.
