A memorial meeting for the Day of Mourning and commemoration of the victims of the war in Ukraine has taken place on the Soldiers-Liberators Square in the morning. Representatives of the municipality, law enforcement officers, military personnel and residents came to honor the memory of the victims.
Residents of Mariupol honored the memory of those who died during the Second World War and the defenders who gave their lives for our future.
‘The Second World War touched every Mariupol family. It touched everyone. We appreciate our veterans who, at the cost of their own lives, conquered the world for our generation and gave us the future,’ First Deputy Mayor Mykhaylo Kohut said.
Everyone honored the victims with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the foot of the monument.
‘It is very important for our generation to carry on the memory of the victims for many years. The value of peace is the most important thing for us,’ Stepan Makhsma, chairman of Mariupol regional council said.
