Today, on the basis of the 1991 Mariupol Startup Development Center, a digital laboratory (FabLab) has been opened. Deputy Mayor Serhiy Orlov came to the opening of the first IT workshop in Mariupol.
FabLab is a small workshop that is equipped with digital instruments. Among them are a 3D printer, a laser and vinyl cutter, and embroidery machines. Using a variety of materials such as wood, plastic, metal or cardboard, young people can create simple as well as complex objects.
“Mariupol is a city of new opportunities. This is what we take into account when creating the new Development Strategy 2030. We pay great attention to the direction of education and IT, where children acquire knowledge and production skills. A digital laboratory is modern equipment, support and training, and most importantly, it opens up new opportunities for the development of young people, ” Serhiy Orlov stressed.
Digital workshops are being created within the framework of the Digital Prototyping for Professional Education project, which is being implemented by the Terre des hommes-Ukraine Foundation with the assistance of the USAID Economic Support to Eastern Ukraine Project.
