Today is the 207th anniversary of the birth of the Kobzar of the Ukrainian people - Taras Shevchenko. A solemn meeting with the laying of flowers at his monument was held in Mariupol. It was joined by the representatives of the municipality.
“All Ukraine is celebrating the anniversary of the birth of the great Kobzar. Both our past and our future are connected with the work of Taras Shevchenko. Centuries have passed, but his works are still relevant. The principles that he laid down - humanity, dignity and freedom became the basis of our state. Taras Shevchenko showed us a course towards a free and independent Ukraine, ” First Deputy Mayor Mikhailo Kohut said.
He stressed that Mariupol fulfills the behest of Taras Shevchenko. The city is continued to be built as the whole Ukraine as the Kobzar sang in his works.
The rally ended with the laying of flowers at the foot of the monument.
