January 16 will be the International Flashmob Museum Selfie. In Ukraine this year the action will be held for the fifth time. The Mariupol Local History Museum has joined the International Day of Museum Selfie.

The action was founded by the European project Culture Themes in 2014. Each time, it finds more and more fans and gives participants the opportunity to tell about their favorite museums, and to get free advertising to the most museums.

To participate in a flash mob, you need to come to your favorite museum, take a selfie on the background or near your favorite exhibit and publish it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #MuseumSelfie and the tag of the museum where you take the photo.

To the attention of visitors: according to the rules, if there is a day off in your favorite museum or gallery on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, you can take selfies at the background of the museum building or with a museum entrance ticket.

The promotion has two reservations:

- It is strictly forbidden to use the flash when taking pictures because it harms museum rarities;

- the selfie made in the museum cannot be used as an instrument of political agitation or confrontation.
