In Kiev, a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine has been held. It was attended by the Ambassador of Denmark in Ukraine Ruben Madsen, the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Alexander Saenko, the representatives of the European Union in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and anti-corruption institutions. The deputy mayor of Mariupol, Yaroslav Khotnyanskiy, spoke about the experience of building a transparent municipality.

‘For us, openness and transparency is not just a goal but our work philosophy. We have done a lot of work. The most important thing for us was to change people's minds. Due to it, we were able to become one of the most transparent cities in Ukraine in accordance with the Transparency International rating. This allowed us to increase the credibility of our international partners and attract multimillion-dollar investments,’ Yaroslav Khotnyanskiy said.

During the meeting, the decisions were made on the future work plans of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine. Among other things, the project organizers said that they plan to start the second phase of this program from 2020.

It is worth noting that the Anti-Corruption Initiative of the European Union in Ukraine (EUACI) is the largest program of international assistance in the field of combating corruption in Ukraine. One of its directions is the implementation of joint anti-corruption activities together with the Ukrainian partner cities. Mariupol began to cooperate with this initiative in 2018.
