The first vaccination against COVID-19 was given by 9.3% of Mariupol residents in Mariupol. Vaccination must now be stepped up to prevent a new wave of pandemics. This was stated by Mayor Vadym Boichenko.

‘A new strain of the virus is on the threshold of our country. It is transmitted faster. Infected people are more seriously ill, mortality is twice as high. Vaccination is the only weapon against it. We must be responsible for protecting our lives and the health of our loved ones. We have done everything necessary so that vaccinations can be done quickly and comfortably,’ the Mayor stressed.

Director of the Department of Health Andrii Rempel said that the city is in the "green zone" for now. The occupancy of beds with oxygen is 8.2%. For 100 thousand population, 12 hospitalized patients were recorded. However, the number of COVID-19 patients in the country is increasing and it is dangerous to procrastinate with vaccination.

The deputy mayors said that meetings were being held with doctors at public utilities and with residents of condominiums. 75% of the adult population must be vaccinated to develop collective immunity.

The Mayor also noted the importance of vaccinating teachers. After all, they communicate with children every day and must be protected. The Mayor instructed the relevant leaders to hold a meeting with teachers about the importance of vaccination.
