Mariupol is on the path of the development of municipal transport. Today, Mayor Vadim Boichenko has visited trolleybus depot 4 and has got acquainted with the project of its reconstruction.

The Mayor familiarized himself with the state of the buildings of Mariupol tram-trolleybus control. The depot has not been repaired since it was built - about 50 years. There is no heating in the rooms and the roof leaks. The main thing - there are no modern systems for monitoring the technical condition of the vehicles.

It is worth noting that by the end of the year the municipal park expects transport replenishment. 64 new buses and 72 trolley buses will be installed on the city line. The implementation of the project for the reconstruction of the depot and the purchase of modern transport became possible with the support of international partners. The International Finance Corporation IFC together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development allocated EUR 33 million for the reformation of the transport system of Mariupol.

According to Vadim Boichenko, the titanic work was done so that possible assistance from international funds for Mariupol would become a reality.

‘We had to do three things. First, to show that Mariupol is safe. And today we are among the five safest cities in Ukraine. The second is to structure the management system. And today we are in the first places in transparency ratings. The third is to create a city development strategy. Today you see it in action. And now, Mariupol received a financial resource for the implementation of an ambitious project. A new era of transport development begins in Mariupol’,
Vadim Boichenko stressed.

According to the deputy mayor Sergei Zakharov, about UAH 180 million are planned to be sent for the reconstruction. The design project was developed in the Scandinavian style and corresponds to the Mariupol brand.

About 1,5 thousand people work at the enterprise today. Upon completion of the project, 500 additional jobs will be created. The employees will be provided with comfortable working conditions. Everuthing will be equipped with the most up-to-date control systems at the vehicle and driver admission to the line.
