On the basis of the Mariupol City Hospital No. 4, it will be created a Children's Regional Infectious Center. It will serve about 100 thousand children. The project includes a major overhaul of the infectious diseases departments and the laboratory. The total cost is more than UAH 27.5 million. It is funded by the city budget and Metinvest Group. The repair work was inspected by Mayor Vadym Boichenko.
Children's regional infectious center will become a unique medical institution not only for our city, but also for the region. It will take children from Mariupol and surrounding villages with bacterial, virological and other infections.
Deputy mayor Ksenia Sukhova added that the regional center will enable doctors to quickly conduct consultations and develop treatment algorithms. According to her, the presence of a fully equipped resuscitation will be especially important.
First Deputy Mayor Mikhail Kogut said that the overhaul will take place in three stages. At the first stage, they will reconstruct the infection department No. 2. There will be 40 beds. Now dismantling is underway. The facade and roof are being repaired. Structural reinforcement and building insulation will be carried out. Engineering networks will also be thoroughly repaired and boxes with separate entrances will be equipped.
These works are fully funded by Metinvest Group. Investments are 10 UAH million. According to Konstantin Voitsekhovskyi, HR Director at Azovstal Iron and Steel Works, in connection with the pandemic, priority is given to supporting medicine.
‘For 10 years, we have been helping City Hospital No. 4. In addition, our forces built oxygen posts in three hospitals. We continue to provide oxygen free of charge to all medical institutions in the city that need it,’ he said.
The second stage of reconstruction involves the repair of the infectious ward No. 1. The third is baclabs.
In turn, the director of the hospital, Vladymyr Zhygyl, noted the importance of repair works in the current conditions. He appreciated the municipality and the Metinvest Group for their help and support in the development of the hospital.
