A major overhaul of the Korolenko Library is underway in Mariupol. After it, it will not only change its external and internal look but also it will be filled with new meanings. The course of work was checked by Mayor Vadim Boichenko.
The total cost of major repairs is more than UAH 14 million. USAID will help with the purchase of equipment.
The building has already been renovated roofing, facade and demolition works are being completed. Now there is an internal repair of the premises, as well as the replacement of engineering networks.
The main thing will change the occupancy of the building. The traditional library is transformed into a modern space. On the ground floor there is a library, a reading room and a recreation area. On the second - there will be a conference room and an IT hub.
‘Creating modern spaces, we open new opportunities for young people. The library should become a place for our young people where they can usefully spend time and learn a new modern profession. Creation of IT-space is dictated by current trends and requests from our youth,’ Vadim Boichenko said.
During the inspection of the reconstruction, the Mayor drew attention to the fact that it was necessary to install a lift so that the second floor was accessible to all residents.
