"Cozy courtyards" are becoming a recreation and leisure center for Mariupol residents. Their creation, as well as major repairs and energy efficient measures in the housing stock of the city became possible due to the Support Program for condominiums. Today in Mariupol there are 870 associations of co-owners of apartment buildings. Their number is growing every day. To strengthen the positive trend, the Mayor, Vadym Boichenko, signs memorandums with the chairmen of condominiums.
“By creating condominiums, residents get the opportunity, together with the municipality, to solve all the issues of improvement that concern them. Taking responsibility into their own hands, neighbors change their attitude to their home and to each other, become more friendly. This is how a community of initiative people is formed, which helps to make Mariupol a city of opportunities for every citizen. And most importantly, our children have a different future in their hometown, where they want to live, ”
- the Mayor noted.
Thus, HOA "Ilyichevsky-129" was created one of the first in 2009. The first mini-project for the house at 206a Metallurgov Avenue was the replacement of window blocks. In 2019, a "Cozy Yard" appeared on the site, asphalting and curbing of roads were carried out, pedestrian paths and a recreation area were laid out by tiles. They also installed a children's small tower, a swing, a carousel, a sandpit, exercise equipment, a gazebo, benches, carpet weaving and trash cans. A total of UAH 1.5 million were allocated from the city budget to support the house.
“At that time not everybody knew about condominiums, it was exciting to create our own, but since that time we have never regretted our decision. The house became cozier, more comfortable when ‘Cosy Yard’ was opened, the residents were delighted that now we have our own place to relax”, Oksana Gordienko, chairman of the Ilyichevsky-129 condominium association said.
During the meeting, residents of a neighboring house on 210 Metallurgov Avenuу addressed the Mayor. They unanimously complained about the work of the City for People management company. Residents want to join the association in order to make their home comfortable and the yard modern, but the management company did not complete the promised renovation of the house, for which all residents were raising funds.
“Such appeals have begun to sound more and more often. We have repeatedly entered into dialogue with the company, but there have been no improvements in its work. Now the limit of trust is completely exhausted, so we will legally help everyone who wants to terminate the contract with the company and protect the already created condominiums. Nobody has the right to force Mariupol residents to use the method of house management”, Vadym Boichenko stressed.
