The first call rang out today on the 1st of September for more than 36 thousand pupils of Mariupol. 3940 first-graders have heard it and crossed the threshold of the school for the first time. By tradition, the beginning of the new academic year was celebrated with solemn lineups with bright concert performances. Vadym Boichenko, the Mayor, congratulated children, their parents and teachers on the Knowledge Day.

In his opening speech, Vadym Boichenko expressed confidence that the new academic year would bring new knowledge, friends, discoveries and memories to the children and would open new horizons for someone. So, today is exciting not only for first-graders, but also for older children. After all, the current academic year will be final for 1850 graduates.

The Mayor emphasized the role of the first teacher in the life of the child and the power of parent support. Vadym Boichenko thanked teachers who gave the children knowledge, experience and wisdom, giving them a fraction of their heart and soul, even at the cost of their own lives. He is confident that joint efforts can reveal the inner world and the potential of each child, so that he or she chose a profession in the future that would bring happiness him or her.

The First Bell is a symbol of peace, safety, well-being, development of Mariupol and Ukraine. There is no future in any city or country without it. We must remember that the future of our children depends on us, parents and teachers, and the future of Mariupol depends on our children
