The renovation work of "Neptune" swimming pool in Mariupol is in progress . The building will be completely reconstructed and the adjacent territory will be landscaped. Mayor Vadym Boichenko noted the importance of this facility for the development of sports in Mariupol.
“Our key goal is to create a modern sports center in each district. Such an object is going to be “Neptune” pool in the Kalmiusky district. It is being transformed into a multifunctional center for the whole family”, the Mayor said.
In addition to the usual pool for Mariupol residents, the building will be equipped with a children's pool, gyms and a SPA center. This expansion of functions was recommended by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine. In order not to reduce the area of the pool, it was decided to make an extension.
Engineering communications have been almost completely replaced. The total cost of the project is UAH 90 million. The project is financed from the city and state budgets.
The pool itself is planned to open at the end of 2021, but a fully multifunctional sports center will start operating in 2022. Reconstruction of the Independence Square is also envisaged. There will be a park area with landscaping and a pedestrian fountain.
