The most successful city in solving the housing problem for IDPs is Mariupol: Vadim Chernysh

Today, Vadim Chernysh, Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Personsand Mayor Vadim Boichenko have handed the keys to flats to 68 families for ‘new Mariupol residents’. Financing was carried out jointly by the city and state budgets, on the basis of 50 to 50. The total investment amounted to more than UAH 40 million.

Highly qualified specialists in the field of education, health, employees of law enforcement agencies and local enterprises received new housing. Vadim Boichenko thanked them for their faith in Mariupol and help in its development.

‘You have become an integral part of ‘Mariupol family’. They gave the city a new potential for further development. For our part, we are doing everything possible so that you find coziness, comfort and house in Mariupol’,
the Mayor noted.

According to Vadim Chernysh, before implementing a similar program in Ukraine, foreign experience was studied. Mariupol became the first city in Ukraine where it was applied in practice.

‘Housing is the biggest problem for the integration of internally displaced persons into a community. The most successful city in solving housing problems for IDPs is Mariupol. Your community is the most advanced and effective. Here, the migrants are provided with the necessary support,’ the Minister noted.

In addition, Vadim Chernysh said that now the ministry proposed a new form of housing purchase - 70% will be allocated from the state budget and 30% from the local one.

In turn, ‘new Mariupol’ appreciated the authorities for their support.
