A new trolleybus line in Kuprina Str. has appeared in Mariupol. Since today, trolleybus routes No. 5 and 12 have been running there. Besides, 20 Czech trams arrived to the city, 11 of them have already reached the line and the rest will come out soon. The new network and transport was personally checked by the Mayor Vadim Boichenko.

Mariupol residents were looking forward to the emergence of electric transport in Kuprina Str. This is a new step  in the development of transport infrastructure. New line appeared on the site: bus station number 2 – Kuprina Str. - Shevchenko Blvd. - Port City shopping center. It was made an outdoor lighting, rainwater drainage and installed stopping pavilions. More than UAH 13 million was allocated for the project.

Due to the extension of the routes, the  residents received direct transport links to the city center, Kalmiuskiy district and the railway station. The route schedule was developed taking into account the train schedule of the railway station.

‘The launch of a new trolleybus line in Kuprina Str. will improve the internal logistics of Mariupol. Mariupol residents have been waiting for this for a long time. We set ourselves the task to develop transport in Mariupol. And we are following the Development Strategy,’
the Mayor Vadim Boichenko noted.

The cost of one tram is UAH 1 million 677 thousand. Previously, they were used in Riga’s streets. In order to work well in Mariupol, they were upgraded. The transport is equipped with an information system, external sound system, cameras, heating system, navigation and lighting. According to the Director of the Department of Transport and Communications Vasily Klat, trams can serve Mariupol people for more than 15 years.

‘Public transport should be affordable, convenient, comfortable for residents and those people who work on it. In two years, 113 units of municipal transport appeared in Mariupol. And this is not the limit. We will continue to update public transport,’
the Mayor summed up.
